Encaustic paints have recently achieved popularity as an alternative to oil and acrylic paints. A very spontaneous and versatile medium, encaustics can be modeled, layered, sculpted, textured, and even combined with collage materials. No drying time is required. The fine quality and exquisite visual properties of R&F Encaustic Paints are owed to the dedicated labor process. R&F carefully mixes pigment, pure beeswax, and damar resin. Each color is heavily pigmented and carefully milled. Because no solvents are used, many health hazards associated with other art materials are eliminated. The beeswax contained in R&F Encaustic Paints makes them impervious to moisture, and thus highly durable. Over time, your art retains all the freshness of a newly finished work. Encaustics are applied molten with a brush and then fused into the painting with a heat source. It is best to use encaustic paints on a rigid and absorbent surface. Work done with encaustics does not need to be varnished or protected by glass. A mild buffing with a soft cloth will bring the surface to a beautiful luster. Assortment Set — This introductory assortment kit contains seven colors in smaller-sized cakes, and also comes with the Encaustic Medium. Cakes measure 25 ml (0.8 oz).

Old Holland Classic Oil Colours 40 ml tube burnt sienna - The Old Holland Oil Color Factory was established in 1644 and is still continuing its tradition; the oldest artist's paint factory in the world. These oil paints are still manufactured according to the 16th century methods and under the supervision of artists. The old Dutch Masters used Old Holland paint. All of these colors are manufactured using stone rollers which don't change the color of the paint. Only the purest virgin cold-pressed sunbleached linseed oil is ever used. In the classic Old Holland colors no fillers such as cheap chalk, barium sulphate, aluminum hydrate powders or wax are used. The resulting benefits to the artist using the classic colors are greater covering power, strength of color and the superb intensity of classic color. The paint is packed in soft lead tubes with a thin layer of pewter, as opposed to an aluminum tube which oxidizes within 15 years. Lead tubes last a lifetime. Since this paint consists of pure pigments and oil as opposed to industrially manufactured paints, it cannot be filled mechanically in tubes because the paint is too sticky. The filling of the tubes is done by hand; tube by tube. If Old Holland classic colors seem too strong in color mixing, try mixing the colors with a white oil paint first.
