Liquitex Soft Body Acrylics were the first fine artist's acrylics sold commercially in the United States. These concentrated acrylics contain rich, pure pigments that produce intense color without opacifiers or fillers. They have twice the covering power of ordinary craft acrylics! Liquitex Soft Body Acrylics are naturally creamy and fluid. That makes them just right for tole and decorative arts, stenciling, murals, silk-screening, calligraphy, printmaking, graphic design, sculpture, photo retouching, hard edged painting, watercolor techniques, fabric painting without heat setting, airbrush illustration ... you name it! They're great for all surfaces, including wood, fabric, ceramics, canvas, or any porous surface.

Pebeo Porcelaine 150 - $3.66 These exceptional water-based paints can be applied to any heat-stable surface —porcelain, crockery, terra-cotta, metals, ceramics, glass, etc. Fire them in a home oven at 300°F for 30 minutes for a finish that's as permanent as baked enamel. Pebeo's professional range of 47 lightfast colors blend beautifully with one another and thin with water or medium. Once fired, Porcelaine 150 colors are safe for common detergents and solvents, dishwasher (top rack), and outdoor use. Non-toxic. Porcelaine 150 colors are not intermixable with Pebeo Vitrea 160, and they heat set at different temperatures. Whereas Porcelaine 150 colors are solid, Vitrea 160 colors achieve more of a fused glass or blown glass look. Pebeo recommends that you use a soft, natural fiber brush, such as a squirrel hair quill or a red sable watercolor brush, to apply Porcelaine 150. A soft brush will have the right consistency for the paint, and is less likely to leave brush marks. Individual colors and mediums are packaged in 1½ oz (45 ml) bottles. Porcelaine 150 outliners are packaged in ¾ oz (22 ml) squeeze tubes. To heat set a finished piece, place it in a 300°F (149°C) oven for 30 minutes. Since many vitreous and ceramic materials cannot withstand sudden changes in temperature, we recommend that you place your piece in a room temperature oven and allow it to warm up with the oven. After 30 minutes, turn the oven off and allow it to cool back to room temperature gradually. Avoid use of strong, abrasive cleaners such as steel scouring pads, and sharp cutting implements such as stainless steel knives, which may leave scratches on the surface and make it more difficult to clean. Not recommended for use on surfaces that come in contact with food. Many of the transparent and semi-transparent colors, as shown in the color charts, appear quite dark. Names of colors often reflect the special qualities that colors take on when light passes through.

Liquitex Acrylic Glossies - $2.81 Glossies are water-based acrylic enamels used in many types of decorative painting. They are formulated to adhere to slick, non-porous and non-oily surfaces such as glass, wood, ceramic, plastic, primed metal, tiles, stoneware, china, enamelware, and walls. Colors are lightfast. They mix beautifully to achieve any hue, and dry to a glossy, enamel-like finish. Thin them with no more than 25% water. Although Glossies contain no toxic ingredients, and conform to ASTM D 4236, they are not recommended for use on surfaces that come in direct contact with food and beverages. Finished pieces can be cleaned with soap and water and a soft cloth, but should not be cleaned with strong chemicals and abrasives. Glossies are packaged in 2 oz (60 ml) flip-top jars, which are easily resealed to maintain the freshness of the paint. Glossies can be air-dried or heat-set. To heat-set, bake pieces at 325°F (162°C) for 30-40 minutes in a kitchen oven, for a hard, ceramic-like finish. Allow the piece to warm up and cool down gradually with the oven. Glossies have a thicker consistency than that of other decorative paints. For best results, use a soft natural-fiber brush, such as a red sable watercolor brush, or a soft synthetic-fiber brush, such as a golden taklon detailer.

Robert Gamblin has sought out the finest grades of pigment available (yes, there are differences). He has constructed a paint of exceptional durability in a color palette that is proof of his devotion to painter's real concerns. All colors are mixed and packed by a dedicated crew of 20 employees in their sun-drenched (at least when we visited) factory in Southeast Portland. Robert's concern with the longevity of oil paint has led him to national recognition and extensive collaboration with groups such as the National Gallery in Washington, DC. Recently, Gamblin was commissioned to formulate a custom gold finish that was applied to the entire ceiling of the newly rehabilitated Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Robert Gamblin is evangelistic about creating safe environments and work habits for oil painters. We carry all of Gamblin's safe solvent related mediums. We encourage you to check out the extensive information on personally and environmentally responsible studio practices available from Gamblin. This is a paint you can trust from a company we believe in. Made with the finest refined linseed oils, each color retains the unique characteristics of the pigments, including tinting strength, undertone, and texture.
