Claybord's ultra-smooth finish, rigid hardboard back, and the absorbency of the kaolin clay make it an exceptional surface for pencil, ink, acrylic, gouache, egg tempera, casein, and multimedia. You can completely rework an area many times without ruining the integrity of the surface. Scratch the surface with a knife or gradually remove areas with steel wool. Both the coating and the bonding materials of Claybord Smooth are inert substances with exceptional lightfastness and physical permanence. The mineral-coated surface is pH neutral and acid-free.
